Hello Friday, I’ve waited all week for you. I think I may need a vacation, it’s been a really long time since I’ve had time off – most of the time, vacation means running extra errands and fixing things…if I could really have a vacation I’d just take naps, that would be amazing. It’s Friday and we’re going to make letter D in the wire monogram series! D is almost exactly the same as B with the exception of one of the humps, or is it bumps? H’s, m’s and n’s have humps, but what about b’s and d’s? To be accurate I’m going with bumps.
Monogram D Pendant Tutorial
Most of your shaping is now done, give your pendant a gentle hammering to stiffen the wire – don’t go crazy with it as it will make the wire brittle, but don’t be afraid of it either. Be extra careful where any wires cross as it can create a nice dink/joint in the wire and weaken it significantly. You might need to make some slight adjustments to the letter with your fingers.
As with the B, the end of the tail comes from behind the side loop and then wraps back around the bottom of the side loop…if you look closely you will see what I mean (you can click on the picture and it will enlarge).
TIP: if you are having a hard time making the letter, try making your charms larger until you can get the hang of it. Smaller pieces of wire are harder to work with and they become “work hardened” faster too.
Add a jump ring appropriately sized for the necklace you will wear it on and you’re done! These are delicate little pendants so I don’t recommend them for children.
Now I am going to go take a nap, or I might eat one of my doughnuts…decisions, decisions. If you haven’t already, head over and enter the giveaway!
Completely off topic question: if you could where would you go on vacation right now, if you could?
