We don’t typically do anything for Saint Patty’s, but Little Man has an affinity for browsing the calender for holidays and making sure we know about them for the sake of having a party. I am in a bit of a festive mood and decided to make just a little something for decor. I am not big on decorating for all of the holidays due to the fact that I don’t like storing all the items and I get tired of having things out besides the everything, I’m just picky like that.

I wanted to do something a little different and pay homage to my favorite brotherly duo: the MacManus brothers. Yes the Boondock Saints. I hope that St. Patty doesn’t mind, I don’t think he would if he had seen the movies because, well they’re freaking awesome! As I was putting it together I thought I would just put Boondock Saints down, but hubs said you should put down the words from their tattoos: Veritas, Aequitas or Justice, Equality. Ah brilliant!

Of course my Cricut is out of commission so I found a font I liked on PicMonkey printed the words out and taped it under a sheet of fabric. My light box is also out of commission so I did the next best thing…oh I am shaking my head, it’s been one of those days. I taped it on a lamp shade and lightly traced over the words. Once the font was outlined I pulled it off the shade and got out my green (it’s Christmas green not Kelly green) acrylic paint and my Krylon paint pen; I promise I won’t use the paint pen for a while it’s almost out anyways. I filled in the outlines with paint, put a thin layer of Mod Podge on the wooden lid from an Ikea box, pressed down the fabric, lined around it with black ribbon and then went around the rim with the Krylon pen. And now I have a piece of holiday decor that answers to hub’s taste as well as my own.

Tomorrow I hope to get a little more done and maybe just chill, I also hope you all have a relaxing Friday too! I am going to be working on putting together my planner that I purchased from Mama Miss and maybe regain a little of my life with better time management! And with that my dears I bid you a good day, until Monday!

What a great idea!! I like everything about this especially that everyone in your family was involved in the creation of the perfect framed décor piece to honor St Pat’s day and the MacManus brothers as well.

Hey Marti! It was pretty funny as Hubs doesn’t normally get involved other than giving me critiques when I ask for them; I think he liked that I used his idea. Thank! :D
